love it: a fresh start + a little louise

After a couple attempts at reviving Louise Loves It these last few years, I've decided to start afresh and take the blog ideas in a new direction.  Oftentimes, I still get the urge to write and run through my head "I am going to blog about this tonight and get Louise up and running again!".  Yet I struggle to find the time to boot up the computer, copy in pictures, and ultimately write and edit a post.  Maintaining a blog just takes a lot of time that I can't seem to find nowadays with two kiddos.

Nonetheless I still have a lot of fun things to share with you and will do so via mini-posts over on my Instagram feed (find me at louiselovesit) and on my Facebook page.  I think this will be even better as I can now snap a picture and in a few sentences quickly say why I love it!

And yes, I had baby #2 and the blog now officially has a namesake.  Katherine LOUISE was born on November 14, 2013.  A future blogger?  Maybe!  Thanks again for reading :)

love it: #stylemefeb accomplished

My 28 day Instagram style challenge is complete!  It was fun to mix up the closet in an attempt to match the theme of the day, but truth be told, I am tired of taking pictures of myself.  I could never be a full-time style blogger -- lesson learned.  For those of you not on Instagram, above and below are just a few snippets from February.  Thank goodness it was a short month :)

love it: 3-day detox cleanse

Pretty darn happy that today is the last day of February; it's just not a month us Chicagoans love.  Busy season is finally over at work and I'm tired of bundling up in freezing temps.  Yes, our city got to us this year, but we decided to take action.  Somewhat on a whim, we booked a 4-night getaway to Mexico and leave next week!  The little guy is staying put in Chicago and will be splitting time between his grandparents and aunt and uncle (Mom/Dad/S&J - if you are reading this THANK YOU again).  Sunshine, sand, books and margaritas are on the horizon...but so is a swimsuit...ugh.

I did my first juice cleanse last year and was not the biggest fan.  However, I did drop some quick lbs and sort of felt refreshed, so I am trying again.  Last time around I bought the pre-squeezed juices; some of them were great, others I had to choke down (!) and it was fairly costly.  This time, I am going with Dr. Oz's plan and blending it all at home.  The main reason I like this cleanse is that it lays out exactly what to buy on the shopping list up top.  Easy peasy.  Two quick caveats:  1. I despise celery and am swapping it off the list.  I read other blog reviews of this cleanse that the celery can be a bit much.  I will replace with a different fruit or vege.  2.  I'm not a fan of baths and do not foresee ending three days with one as per the instructions.  Instead I will relax and detox by watching Real Housewives.

Now that it's out there on the blog there's no turning back!  Sat/Sun/Mon is the plan; anyone else in?

love it: shilly's frillies

Not long ago I wrote this post about my love for fancy hair ties and the love continues with a new fave -- Shilly's FrilliesHandmade down in Texas by my college friend Shana, these gentle hair ties bring a much needed pop of color to a swinging ponytail.   Frillies recently set up shop on facebook and created colorful collections to purchase, like the three I chose above: Sorbet, Ice Cream Shop and Lagoon. Prices range between $3-6 a set (depending how many ties are included) and are quick to ship.  Treat yourself, treat a friend and really, how cute would these be in an Easter basket?

Find the frillies here on facebook.  Click the blue Shop button at the top of the page to scroll through all the options to buy, and yes, you can shop directly on facebook!  I promise, it's really easy and well worth it.

love it: turnkey crossbody bag

Looks like something straight out of the J. Crew catalog, right?  These adorable turnkey crossbody bags are from...drumroll...Target...and ring in at $27!  Obsessed with the chain link detail and gorgeous punchy colors.  I plan to layer it over my cream puffer vest to add a much needed pop of color on these chilly winter days (such a great transition bag to spring too).

+++Plus+++ through tomorrow night, all handbags, shoes, and jewelry are buy one, get one 50% off!  So this cute bag + these shoes are only $43 in total.  I am getting the bag in pink and the shoes in green.  You?

p.s. Reminder that this much anticipated Target collaboration launches on Sunday.

love it: the next target collaboration

Normally I wouldn't blog about a designer collaboration weeks before launch, but I saw these shoes from the upcoming Prabal Gurung collaboration with Target (all under $30!) and I'm telling you to Save The Date.  I think this one will sell fast so pencil in February 10th for go-live.  To see the full 80+ piece collection full of spring colors and simply just fun fashion, check out Refinery 29 here.

love it: teenybopper tv

Truth be told, I miss Gossip Girl.  I watched the ups, downs and crazy shenanigans of the Upper East side gang religiously for six years and am now on the hunt for a new high school drama.  The CW appears to be the network to turn to.  The Carrie Diaries, a prequel to Sex and the City, premieres tonight at 8/7c.  Can she pull off a young Carrie Bradshaw?  Will she find love like Chuck and Blair?  Crossing fingers I've found my next teenybopper TV show addiction.

love it: the big game

I'm so nervous for tonight's BCS National Championship game, I can hardly type.  It has been a long time since us Irish fans have been able to cheer on a winning team, and I truly forgot how fun it is!   Hopefully my barrage of Notre Dame instagram photos from the past few months will serve as a lucky charm and bring home a victory.  Go Irish!

love it: the scarf hanger

Not sure if it's the new year or simply just hanging at home WAY too much given the freezing temps, but I am in major organization/de-clutter mode.  The problem is everywhere I look there is something I must organize asap.  Jewelry is strewn all over my dresser, gift wrap/boxes/bows have overtaken the extra bedroom, the pantry has fourteen boxes of crackers (most probably stale)...and it goes on and on.

So after I chilled out, watched Hoarders (kidding!) and realized it's really not that bad, I decided to tackle one area at a time.  I started with this $9 scarf hanger.  Great for your thinner scarves, it's the perfect way to SEE them hanging neatly in your closet.  This will not fit your big, cozy winter ones - that's another project on the list.

*A little Friday trivia bonus: while writing this post, I wasn't sure if 'scarves' or 'scarfs' was the plural of scarf so I googled it and turns out that both are proper according to the Oxford Dictionary.  Who knew?!

love it: a 70% off top

Lela Rose Top: $20.  Versatile!  Wear it sleeveless in the summer with a pencil skirt - or drape a cardigan over it now!
And I'm back with my first post of 2013!  As you can tell, I go in major blogging spurts, but the plan is to try and maintain some sort of consistency with posting this year.  Maybe I should set a resolution to blog more? :)  Anyway, thanks for sticking with me.

So, I fell victim to the Target designer sale syndrome in December (which started with the Missoni craze last year) and thought their holiday collection with Neiman Marcus would sell like hotcakes.  I scooped up this top on Day #1 (for, ahem, $70) and figured it's easy to return things if I don't like it.  When it arrived I tried it on and really liked the quality and fit, but had major issues justifying the price.  Turns out, this collaboration was WAY overpriced for us Target shoppers and the company made swift adjustments to bring it in line.  Everything is now 70% OFF the original price!  Luckily, I was able to get price adjustment on this lovely top and am ridiculously happy with my $20 purchase.  I wore it for the first time to work yesterday paired with the cardigan above.

Many other fun and funky items on 70% off clearance too from this collaboration such as - stripey luggage, darling girls dresses, and fun metallic pouches.
